IELTS Writing Task 2 – Q.16

Here’s a sample Writing Task 2 question on global issues.


Differences between countries become less evident each year. Nowadays, all over the world people share the same fashions, advertising, brands, eating habits and TV channels. Do the disadvantages of this trend outweigh the advantages?


Note the way the question is worded: it’s asking you to examine the advantages and disadvantages of cultural globalization. Before you start writing, look at how to organize your answer for this type of question.

Here’s a good article that examines the same question. Read it carefully and note down vocabulary that you could use. Then, jot down some ideas in the comments below.
