IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Q.1 Model Answer

Questions in IELTS Speaking Part 2 always tap into your personal experiences and memory. While it’s not possible to anticipate every question that the IELTS exaxminer might ask you, it’s useful to prepare sample answers to the most common themes and topics.

Questions that require you to describe a person – a family member, friend, teacher – etc. are fairly common. Here’s one that I posted last week. The model answer is below:

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?


Spelling in IELTS

Too many students lose marks in the Reading, Listening, and Writing sections because of poor spelling. A few misspelled words can mean the difference between 6.5 and 7. And if you are targeting a band score higher than 7, I highly recommend you work on your spellings.

Here’s what I tell my students:

1. Learn the spellings: Note down IELTS-related vocabulary in vocabulary notebook that allows you to focus on spelling. Here’s Johanna Stirling’s great spelling saver I usually give my students. (more…)
